BIG BROTHER 6
The cost of victory proves too pricey for the Spicy Latina as Ivette is voted out of the half-million dollars by a vindictive Jury decision. In a 4 to 3 vote, Maggie is awarded the Grand Prize of $500,000 for her mighty powers of manipulation and the crafty corruption of her less gifted housemates. Ivette is stoney-faced over her second-place prize, but on the bright side, she is out of the BIG BROTHER 6 house at last.
REFLECTIONS OF SIMPLER, OR MORE SINISTER DAYS
There's a walk down memory lane to remember the 14 original HouseGuests in the BIG BROTHER 6's Summer of Secrets. Eric's brief rule is recalled before we move on to King Kaysar's reign. Mistakes are relived, and evictions reminisced as the BIG BROTHER 6 house is whittled down to the final pair and the seven-member Jury.
Making it to the final round of the BIG BROTHER 6 Summer of Secrets has involved fancy footwork, fast thinking and a few personal touches that the finalists believe gave them the edge on their housemates. Ivette claims her success came from her game plan to be "blunt, honest and outspoken. I'm loud," Ivette explains, adding that in the BIG BROTHER 6 house, "I was 100% Ivette."
Maggie sees her own longevity stemming from her choice of allies and her competitive nature. "I did not break anyone's trust that I cared about in this game," Maggie claims, admitting that "because of the loyalty to certain people" and their reciprocated allegiance, she was often protected from nomination. Mags also credits her understanding of the mix of egos and personalities in the house as her strong suit in the game, as she was able to avoid trouble where others got entangled. "Sometimes I really wanted to say something, but I bit my tongue."
JURY DELIBERATIONS
The Jury will decide who gets rewarded with the cash. The six Jury members take their chairs, contemplating who will be the final member of the Jury. Jen and Beau want Janelle to be the last evictee, as that leaves members of the Friendship Alliance in the final two. April admits it is too close to call. James doesn't care who arrives. Instead, he is focused on deciding who will win the Grand Prize and is determined that it should be the best player and not the biggest "kissed-the-best-ass."
The mystery evictee is revealed when Janey arrives, crying, "Howie, what the hell happened with the Force?" "Jedi Janey, I trained you well!" Howie wails in disappointment. Janey admits Ivette is responsible for evicting her, but then defends her against her group's remarks. "It shows what kind of person she is, you guys," she points out. "She has that big of a heart." James has a problem with Ivette's strategy, complaining, "She chose a friend she has for nine weeks over her family she's known 25 years." By picking Maggie over Janelle, James says, Ivette has risked the money over a temporary friendship when originally she swore she was playing to win the money for her family. When talk turns to playing with integrity, James scoffs that "nobody in the house played with integrity." Howie agrees, although he clarifies that while Ivette had always talked about integrity, she didn't always live by it, unlike Maggie, who always kept her word.
Rachel thinks Ivette is "a big piece of trash" in the game, but Janelle points out Mags' surreptitious game-play, accusing her of hiding behind her allies and making her allies do the dirty work. James supports the claim that Maggie had everyone do her dirty work, pointing out that she is the reason they are all in the Jury House and she is still in the BIG BROTHER 6 House. "It was a great strategy, as she let you guys take the blame." "You pretty much think that Maggie manipulated us?" April asks, before weakly admitting that she knew Mags was playing her, but as she liked her, she didn't evict her. Rachel supports Maggie's claim to the prize because "she didn't make it personal." Janelle is torn up about her decision. "We all played a very different game," Howie sighs, saying that he has some serious thinking to do before casting his vote.
THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH
The Jury Roundtable members grill Maggie and Ivette about their game and strategy. Looking for arguments that will influence their votes, James starts the ball rolling with Maggie. Rachel follows, and soon after, Howie hits a sore spot with many HouseGuests by asking Ivette about playing with integrity. Ivette is indignant, swearing that she played straight and didn't lie. Janelle follows with some tough questions for Ivette about her choice of evicting her over Maggie, as keeping Janelle would have guaranteed Ivette the prize money. Ivette admits she was swayed by friendship. Janey then shifts her sights to Maggie, asking, "Why the hell do you deserve the money over Ivette?" Mags claims she's been "an incredibly strong player" and her game-plan was about staying in the background and working from there. Beau and April ask the pair about strategy, and then Jen hits Maggie with a potential deal-breaker, asking, "Who was the one person who initially brought up Kaysar's name for eviction?" referring to the controversial betrayal of the America's Choice decision that brought Kaysar back into the house. Dodging the bullet, Maggie claims, lamely, that she can't remember.
In her final statement, Maggie voices why she deserves the prize money. She feels her strategy was sound, as she wanted to blend in and let others take a bigger role while she learned to lose at competitions while maintaining her competitive edge. Overall, Maggie says, she "gave 110% of [herself] to be here," and that's why she should win the cash.
Ivette is more succinct and to the point, stating that she deserves the money because she played the game without putting on an act, even volunteering herself on behalf of her team. She admits that, while it's been a hard road and people were casualties along the way, it's a path she traveled honestly. After Mags and Ivette sign off, Mags laughs off the residual mud thrown by the Jury: "I need a hug."
Oft-mono-focused James is swayed by Ivette's generosity and candor, admitting, "She really had her loyalty towards your group, whereas Maggie had it towards herself." April contemplates her choice, sighing, "There were two different strategies, one played as an open book, one played as a closed book." Janelle thinks it is an even playing field. Jen doesn't like the side of Maggie she saw during her questioning and is now considering voting for Ivette, but she also has issues with the Spicy Latina. Back inside the BIG BROTHER 6 house, Ivette is confused by the Jury's attitude, and Maggie complains, "I don't think they like either of us!"
LAST CALL FOR FAVORS
Host Julie Chen welcomes the Jury of Seven members to the live audience. Jen, Rachel, James, Beau, Howie, April and Janelle are applauded as they enter the stage. Who will they vote to win the half-million dollars? Julie asks, as the audience goes wild over the arrival of some of their favorite HouseGuests.
Julie asks the Jury members to cast their votes. Beau is first to vote after a gushing speech to Ivette and Maggie. April follows next with another fawning speech, reiterating her love for them both before casting her vote. James is next. His speech is typically James: short, to the point and surprisingly sweet. Then Rachel takes her time to say she is casting her vote for "the most complete player" in the game. Janelle congratulates Maggie and Ivette before admitting she was torn between the two players. Having made her choice, she places her vote. Jennifer follows, casting her vote quickly before Howie, "the star of the show," as Julie puts it, casts his vote last. Wishing he was voting for Kaysar or Janey, Howie places his key in the slot.
LEST WE FORGET, THEY WON'T LET US
We reconnect with the non-sequestered HouseGuests as Julie looks for some non-Jury opinions, welcoming back Ashlea, Michael, Eric, Sarah and Kaysar. The HouseGuests take their seats opposite the Jury, the groups eyeing each other from across the stage. Julie asks Sarah if there is anything she wanted to let James know, and she immediately clears suspicions that the Sovereign Six ever betrayed them. Eric is then asked about Maggie. He says she has played the game brilliantly, never letting anyone see her hand. Michael is questioned about his experience in the house. Michael confronts his detractors, telling them America knows the truth that his enemies were lying, and he regrets nothing.
When Julie asks Howie about his fight with April, he laughs it off, "That was strictly for television." We revisit April's claims that it was not America's Choice to have Michael call Janelle over her, the newlywed, then calling BIG BROTHER viewers "pieces of s***" for picking Janey instead of her. April dismisses it with, "being in the House is nuts," and apologizes for her "emotional, crazy mess."
Julie then tells everyone that Kaysar received over 80% of the viewer vote to return him to the house, and asks Jen how that makes her feel. Jennifer is unapologetic, and equally unrepentant Eric tries to throw aspersions on Kaysar's behavior until the audience boos him into silence and Julie moves on to a more palatable subject.
IT'S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
The vote is revealed as Julie starts to pull out the keys. The first vote goes to Ivette, the next to Maggie. The next two votes are split and Maggie wins the final vote, scoring the BIG BROTHER 6 Grand Prize of $500,000! Rachel, Howie, April and Jennifer cast the winning votes to place Maggie on the winner's podium. Maggie walks out the front door of the BIG BROTHER 6 house straight into her boyfriend's waiting arms and the rousing applause of the live studio audience. Ivette is stone-faced as she realizes that she made the wrong choice, and it cost her the money. Running over to her parents, Ivette looks for solace in their embrace.
THE RICH AND THE REGRETFUL
Julie asks Mags what she is going to do with the money, and with a winning smile, Maggie says she has lots of gifts to buy, animals to look after and a house to furnish. Julie congratulates everyone as the show comes to a fabulous close, with HouseGuests hugging and audience members applauding. It's a wrap on another super season of BIG BROTHER.
BIG BROTHER 5
DYNAMIC DREW DEFEATS COWBOY
By a vote of 4 to 3, Drew, the recent college graduate from Ohio, wins BIG BROTHER 5, walking away half a million dollars richer for having spent 82 days with thirteen strangers. It comes down to the wire as the votes are all tied up 3-3, and the deciding vote is cast by the first member of the jury, Will. His vote goes to Drew, and with that, Drew wins!
OH, THOSE SUMMER NIGHTS
It's been one long, hot summer and one happy camper is going home with $500,000 for having spent the bulk of their summer shacking up with a group of strangers and outmaneuvering all of them all summer long.
Let's look back at the way we were and how we got to where we are. Things got off to a fast start when the first twist of Project DNA: Do Not Assume--that Jennifer a.k.a. Nakomis and Michael (the man who would come to be known as Cowboy)--had the same father. Then, the game playing began in earnest when an alliance called the Four Horsemen hooked up and began to dominate game play. Jase and Scott played bully boy, knocking out Mike and generally pushing people around.
The girls, not willing to take this lying down, formed their own alliance cemented by the now infamous pinky swear that later proved to be the undoing of Adria and Natalie. But with Nakomis calling the shots, a group effort known as the six-finger plan went into effect in an effort rid the House of Jase. The expected calm from Jase's departure was short-lived as Adria and Natalie became the force that nobody wished to deal with and were turned out for their turncoat ways--again Nakomis was the architect of their demise.
As HouseGuests departed, alliances crumbled, and Diane, fearing a tight bond between Karen and Nakomis, conspired to get the portrait artist from New Jersey out the door. Then, Cowboy turned on his sister, and in the final betrayal Drew evicted his girlfriend, Diane.
THE JURY CONVENES
Karen, Adria, Will, Natalie, Nakomis and Marvin sit around the Jury House in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico waiting for the final arrival. Nakomis says, "Maybe Cowboy wisened up, and it might be Drew." As they stand and wait, it's none other than Diane who descends the steps much to the surprise of some and the joy of others. Marvin, who has not lit up his smoke all summer long, does so dramatically in honor of Diane's arrival. Diane says she now understands how it feels, "You don't know it's coming." She adds, "It was the biggest shock of my life."
When she says she thinks her eviction was all Drew's doing, Adria jumps on her because she thinks Diane and Drew's relationship should not be a part of the game. Marvin, in bulldog mode, attacks Adria for always befriending and defending Drew. Then, Natalie pipes in and says, "We're the jury. We're here not to be jealous, but to be just."
The conversation turns to strategy and the consensus seems to be that Cowboy has slid by while Drew has played the game, including a lie or four here and there. Karen is graphic, saying, "Drew crawled up Cowboy's behind." Diane feels that Cowboy was always honest but that "He hasn't done squat," while Drew played a great game but he did lie to her. Marvin's retort is, "I don't think Cowboy has enough sense to lie." Will acknowledges that Cowboy stayed true to his alliances, which is something in his favor.
Once the HouseGuests finish talking amongst themselves, they have the opportunity to grill the two finalists via satellite. Will goes first and asks Drew to tell him, for strategic reasons, why Cowboy does not deserve to win this game. Drew answers that he has been more strategic and played a stronger game.
Natalie goes next and asks Cowboy to list three strategic moves he made. Cowboy says the Four Horsemen alliance, winning the Veto, and being himself. Marvin's not buying it and asks of Cowboy whether he's "a racist liar or a lying racist?" Cowboy says he's neither and that he loves all people. Karen wants to know why Drew lied to her face, and the best he can do is apologize, while Nakomis wants to hear from Cowboy why he never expressed his dismay at being put on the block. But, the real kicker is when Diane tells Drew she doesn't feel his goodbye was heartfelt and he says it was. She remains unconvinced.
The jury definitely is out and it could be either Drew or Cowboy's game.
JULIE CHECKS IN WITH THE FINALISTS
Julie wants to know how Drew and Cowboy feel about the questions thrown their way. Drew responds that it was rough and that hopefully things aren't as bad as they seem. Julie then asks Cowboy what he has to say for himself, what surprised him the most, and he replies that he felt it was wrong that people were saying he didn't do anything. They both admit that Marvin's questions were the toughest and in Drew's words, "below the belt."
THE JURY OF SEVEN HAS ITS MOMENT
Julie greets the jurors and tells them they will have a moment to tell Cowboy and Drew their thoughts and then cast their votes by placing the key of the HouseGuest they feel is worthy into the slot. Adria steps up first and says both young men have a bright future ahead and that they are both awesome. Natalie goes and informs the duo, "The game is about commitment and living it daily." Karen needles them about her missing the shopping spree and apologizes for her "emotional retardedness," Marvin tells them he loves them like "play cousins" and Diane says, "Only one thing contributed to how I wound up voting." Will, last but not least, admonishes the guys, "Use the money to make a difference."
THE FAB FIVE COME ALIVE
It's BIG BROTHER 5 so it's time to have the Fab Five, all those who did not go to the sequester house, come out and see their fellow HouseGuests and jury members. Out come Mike, Lori, Scott, Jase and Holly. Julie sets to stirring it up as Jase gives shout-outs to Marvin and Marvin comes right back. Jase continues to allude to things that have gone down that the jury HouseGuests have not yet seen--specifically Will--as he wants Will to know Marvin's friendship is not real.
But Julie wants to find out what really went down with Jase, Scott and Holly and asks of them to explain. Jase says, "Savage knows." Julie asks Scott, and he says that he was backing Drew one hundred percent. Jase wants to make it about Holly, while Scott tries to take the high ground saying he loves Jase and loves Holly. Marvin is called in by Julie to mediate and he does let on, "Jase was getting out of his head with Holly."
Julie keeps stirring the pot and asks Holly about her feelings for Diane. Holly says she was genuine towards Diane and brings back the ghost of BIG BROTHER 5 karma, suggesting that may be what cost Diane everything. Diane flat out says, "You're not the type of person I would hang out with."
Julie keeps things lively and asks Mike what he thinks is the one thing jurors should know. His reply is, "Oh, Karen back-stabbing everybody." After she tries to say, "I was loyal, " Jase offers up a character assassination of "Monotone voice spaceship."
Then it's on to alliances new and old, and Julie has Scott talk about the Four Horsemen--the first public airing of that name, and the on-air declaration that the Four Horsemen were tighter than the Santa Monica Van Boys. Julie then asks of Mike, who has seen so much, who he thought had played the best game. He gives it up for Diane and in a moment of redemption for her, says, "She knew what she was doing early on; people make mistakes when emotion gets involved."
DREW IS CROWNED THE WINNER
Now it's reveal time as Julie pulls the keys. The first key is cast by Adria: it's Cowboy. Then Natalie--it's Cowboy again and he's off to a 2-0 start. Karen is next--she voted for Drew. Then Marvin is up, and he voted for Drew as well. Now it's Diane: did she go for love or did she reject the man who voted her out? She votes for Drew. Then it's Nakomis--is blood thicker than respect? She goes with family and casts her vote for Cowboy. It's 3-3 and one final vote from Will remains. The registered nurse from Tupelo, Mississippi is the deciding vote and that vote is cast for Drew! Drew is the winner of BIG BROTHER 5.
EPILOGUE
Julie tells Drew to come outside, and it's obvious his heart is pumping through his chest. As Diane watches from the sidelines, he says the first thing he will do is go out with Cowboy. All the HouseGuests flood the scene and there is hugging, hugging, hugging all around. April emerges and Michael lays a big kiss on her and begins to cry when he sees Chason.
Michael says he'll use the money to pay some bills. Drew delights in the moment. And everybody else watches as these two winners celebrate their victory.
